The Boy Scouts of America is held to very high esteem for training boys into fine, respectable young men by teaching honorable behavior and practical abilities through outdoor skills involved in camping, hiking, boating, and a wide variety of other endeavors. However, the organization is not without its share of controversy. From banning young gay lads and leaders to only accepting boys assigned such at birth, the BSA has alienated many groups in favor of being a more traditional boys' club.

This is very interesting. I have never had an experience with Girl or Boy Scouts. Is it safe to assume that Girl Scouts also have the same religious discrimination? Personally, I have always assumed that the Boy Scouts of America would be inclusive to everyone. I'm surprised that I haven't heard about this issue before since the media mainly focuses on controversial topics. I definitely have a better grasp on what being part of the Boy Scouts of America really entails.

It is not safe to assume that of the Girl Scouts. Emily Canterbury would know, and if you're really curious you could ask her, but I don't know and wouldn't assume anything of the Girl Scouts. Maybe they do discriminate on religious grounds, but maybe they don't. I really have no idea, and therefore that is not a safe assumption.

This was a really interesting article. I have heard of the Boy Scouts being overly discriminatory, like their bannings of gay members. But I have never heard about "The Declaration of Religious Principle", which is ridiculous. I also didn't know that the Boy Scouts were a more religious organization, so that was also interesting to learn. Overall, I thought this was a very well written article.

They aren't a religious organization, they just require religious beliefs of its members. They don't perform any religious ceremonies other than a few on longer events, and even so it is just a basic service. They only require their members practice their religion, but it doesn't involve itself in how. Ever.
